I always wanted to do this painting. It is a mixture of ideas I have had for a year.

I love how an ink wash can feel alive. It is it's uncontrollable game. I have learned how to make it and channel it and in that control it is ways but the control is still very free form.

She feels like that gaze is so much more then what you except it to tell of her self and I love that. The eyes are so important in how they communicate. I feel like art that doesn't make you make eye contact with it is not powerful enough to move you. It doesn't really need eyes but to have a spirit of it's own is so important.

art is the love the world remembers when you are forgotten.

I can't let everything stop ......I work to hard to let a bad feeling slow me down.

I forget sometimes in the wake of France being attacked that Facebook is full of racists. It is a huge distraction these days. I should and am back to making art again. I don't know when I stopped doing the masks. I think I started enjoy my faces with ink washes so much I stopped painting over them.

I think she looks a little French. Which is not honestly on purpose. She was painted a few days before. I feel like she needs a background to make her whole. 

I sold  some work this weekend. It feels empty, which is a new feeling. I think I may still have a cold. Just a little bit. Alec and I took a bike ride on Sunday and I think I may have pushed myself to hard to fast. So I'm drinking my green tea and pondering what my painting needs. Jeremy Fish said once "I always thought sketches was just what you did before painting but then I found out people looked at them as art all on their own." It's not a direct quote but that was the jist.

I've been making a lot of work recently. So many different styles of paintings. Acrylic and watercolors are jumping in and out my projects as I'm going back to working on larger paintings slowly. It just feels better.
